Everyone’s talking about the new coronavirus, and the rumours are spreading even faster than the disease. My editor at Fodor’s reached out to ask me to write a piece on what travellers need to know about the new virus: Should you change your travel plans due to the coronavirus? I’ve updated it with new info twice already, and a new update will be published the week of February 17.
Every once in a while my former life as a Government of Canada policy executive and my travel writing life link together for a brief moment, and I can write pieces like this. I knew there was a reason I worked on the pandemic influenza file for a while! (Free advice: get your flu shot).
What’s the bottom line with the coronavirus? The average person, even the avergae traveler, has a low risk of contracting the new cornoavirus. Stay healthy by washing your hands frequently and avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth (the parts shown in the photo from Bayon temple, Cambodia).
