China

I’ve had four incredible trips to China, each hosted by the Chinese national tourism authority:

  • Shaanxi and Shandong provinces (April 2018).
  • Hong Kong, Fujian and Jiangxi provinces (March 2016).
  • Sichuan and Shanxi provinces (August-September, 2015) on assignment for Dreamscapes Travel and Lifestyle Magazine.
  • Shanghai and Hunan province (September 2014) on assignment for Dreamscapes Travel and Lifestyle Magazine.

Articles so far (plus don’t forget my general Asia articles), the latest and organized by location to help your travel planning.

The latest:

An essay called Wishing in China, for Canadian magazine Hayo’s third print issue, North (published December 2017).

Intrigued by Disney’s new “Pandora — The World of Avatar” attractions? Why not explore the real thing that inspired the movie and theme park? For Almost Fearless magazine, More real and magical than Disney: China’s fantastical mountains.

For Royal Caribbean, a few port guides:

Fujian and Jianxi provinces

Shanxi province

Shaanxi province

Shandong, the province which hosted the Olympic sailing races and home of Tsingtao beer.

Sichuan province

  • Feature on Yibin Crowne Plaza, for Luxury And Boutique Hotels.
  • Forthcoming article on the seas of Sichuan.
  • More than just pandas and peppers (forthcoming).

Hunan province

Shanghai

Hong Kong

Getting there

Note: My trips were hosted by the Chinese national tourism authority, but all opinions are my own and no one from the agency or any of the businesses listed reviewed or approved my articles.
