2016 was a slower year of travel for me, where I only got to four continents (I know, cry me a river….). My preference is usually to travel in the developing world, but last year was a lot more Europe, the U.S., Hong Kong, as well as the more European parts of South America. Luckily I got to see some beautiful parts of rural China and Iguazu Falls in Argentina and Brazil too.
Boutique Travel magazine asked me to contribute my favourite hotel of 2016, and it was easy to choose Algodon Mansion. This city hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina is a Relais & Chateaux property, which is really all you have to say to know it is fantastic. But, if you’d like more detail, check out this bathroom pic, plus read Our top hotels from a year of travel, and the articles on my Argentina page.
And what’s up for 2017? Well, my first trip is in February to Uganda, on assignment for Canadian World Traveller magazine and hosted by Uganda Tourism.
I’m thrilled to be going on two treks to see gorillas and chimpanzees in the wild, as well as on a safari to see many animals, including hippos (one of the only animals I missed on my trip to Namibia and South Africa).
Stay tuned for Uganda stories, and, in the shorter term, there’ll be tons of pics coming on my TravelEaterJohanna Instagram feed (hopefully featuring many gorillas!).
