Trekking with Uganda’s mountain gorillas: The pearl of the Pearl of Africa

I was thrilled to have the opportunity earlier this year to go trekking with mountain gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. It was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had (and I know I’ve been lucky to have had some really incredible experiences in my life).

I was asked to write about the experience for S.E.E. Africa magazine, a beautiful glossy put out by Afro Tourism based in Lagos, Nigeria and Washington, DC.  I was pretty excited to learn that my piece is the cover story.

Have a look at PDF of my seven-page story: The pearl of the Pearl of Africa: Uganda’s mountain gorillas. It’s a low-res version, so if you want to see the fabulous gorilla photos in all their glory, read the Issuu version; my article starts on page 38.

I don’t know the name of the photographer to give credit for their fab photos. This one’s mine though:

Note: My experiences in Uganda were hosted by the Uganda Tourism Board, but all opinions expressed here and in my articles are my own and no one from UTB reviewed or approved my articles.
