As access to Cuba has opened up for Americans, there are plenty of articles providing info on the rules for visiting and giving advice on what to see and do.
But there is little information on how visiting Cuba is different from visiting other countries due to the US embargo. Knowing how the embargo affects Cubans and tourism is critical if you want to travel there as a responsible tourist, especially for Americans’ first visit to Cuba.
