How to avoid travel scams

“Please be a responsible tourist!”, says this statue in Luang Prabang, Laos

We all want to protect ourselves from scams when we’re on holiday. But did you know that protecting yourself from scams protects the economy, culture, and people in the country you’re in too?

In this article for TERN Magazine, I explain, as well as admit to the one scam I fell for: Five scams I always avoid and the one that got me.

And if you prefer to read in French, it’s been translated: Cinq arnaques auxquelles j’ai toujours échapé et celle que je n’ai su éviter.

I’ve got more about travel scams and about how to travel responsibly on my Responsible Tourism page.

Have you fallen prey to a scammer? I know more tourists who have faced scams in western Europe than in developing countries, so please watch your wallet in Europe!
