I had my first trip to the island of Kauai last month. I was surprised by how each Hawaiian island is so different (I’ve been to Maui, Oahu and the big Island). And I was especially surprised at how relaxing it was for a work trip.
Kauai was lush and green and laid back. The winter waves can be powerful, but there are a few beaches with sheltered areas that are safe for swimming and better for snorkelling too.

Hawaiian specialties pineapple and ahi tuna: it’s easy to cook for yourself when staying at a vacation rental like Fern Grotto Inn
A fantastic day for me is watching and listening to the waves crashing, followed by a dinner of barely seared ahi tuna, with pineapple for dessert. I’m happy to report that Kauai gave me the opportunity for plenty!
